Velvet Honey Flame
2024

This new body of works delves into subjects of desire, queer erotics, and the complex intersections of sex and care within the lives of marginalized individuals. Sex work liberation and queer liberation are deeply bound, often finding mutual support within each other's movements. With a focus on queer artists, writers and sex workers, the installation highlights the often overlooked labor involved in navigating identity, relationships, and societal expectations.

The work invites to contemplate the invisible labor that underpins everyday life, as well as the ways in which individuals forge connections, find solace, and build community in the midst of hardship. Velvet Honey Flame offers a space for reflection on the complexities of existence, where the lines between work, play, and self-discovery blur, and where the labor of love and liberation is cherished in all its forms. Through archival images, drawings, and cutout wall objects, it brings to light the narratives of figures through symbols, motifs, and cultural references.
